Representatives of the Virginia Department of Economic Development - USA visit

Last March 22, 2011 ACIJ was proud to welcome representatives Warren Harris, Director, Mark Wawner, Project Development Coordinator and Scott Hall, Business Development Coordinator, all of them working for Virginia Beach Economic Development, Virginia State, East Coast of the US, focusing presentation on Virginia Port as well as opportunities for FDI – Foreign Direct Investment (it has to be said that Tupy, Weg and Schulz are listed among 15 Brazilian enterprises holding their operations seating in Virginia Beach a city with 600.000 (six hundred thousand) inhabitants, where Norfolk and Chesapeake are the surrounding towns). It is an important entry corridor to US marketplace, offering low ax burden (Enterprise Income Tax of 6%) and labor regulation pro-business (dismissal without cause is one the concept that is allowed). Moreover, Foreign Trade Zone and Dry Port are also available, driven by multi-modal distribution. With the docking of Post-Panamax wessels (16 meters deep), the modern facilities of that port system encompass five harbours throughout the region.
